- OAS : Secret Army Organization, armed reply of a part of the "black-feet" and of the french army to the "extricating" imposed by General de Gaulle.

- SNP : without patronymic name - The obligation to have a patronyme was imposed on Corsicans after the purchase of Corsica by France (1768). On the other hand, in Algeria, this law was not applied. When it became necessary to give an identity to anybody, the french administration did not break their head, neither the concerned people. From this the many "SNP" used as patronymic names.
