- Kahina : Her true name was Dahya. She symbolize the heart and soul of the amazighe resistance opposite the muslims. Queen of the Aures, and probably christian, she showed a remarkable courage against the muslim invasion, all the more so since that she was elderly at the time of the struggle. It seems that her power was given to her by a counsil of tribes that recognized he remarkable intelligence. The legend also says she was absolutely beautiful. After having won several battles, she is obliged to apply a burn ground policy. Her opponent, Ibn Al Nu'man, gathers more the 50,000 combatants. After two years of war, the final battle takes place in 704 at Tabarka. Dahya first sends her two sons to join the muslim camp, in order to preserve her family's interest.
