- half-track : In 1937 the american Army hopes to be equiped with a troop transport half track vehicle, as it exists then in the french army. Being inspired by the french Kegresse P17, the Americans finalize their own vehicule, called in english "half-track".
In 1940, while about 70 different models have been proposed to the american infantry forces, the decision is taken on the M3 model, which begins to be producted the same year. Although these vehicles should be used until the end of the second world war, the production of the half-track is stopped int 1944.
Different versions of the M3 have as well been produced between 1940 and 1944, in particular a model (named ACP) armed with a 75 mm anti-tanks gun (site DDay-overlord.ccom)
